The President toured a slaughter house in Azul, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina that reopened after seven years and has already employed 500 workers.
President Mauricio Macri toured the facilities of a beef slaughterhouse in the city of Azul in Buenos Aires, after being closed for seven years, reopened again in March 2017 and has already generated 500 jobs, thanks to the new measurements that have been taken by the Government for the cattle industry since December 2015.
The Head of State, together with the President General Secretary Mr. Fernando de Andreis; the local mayor, Mr. Hernan Bertels; and the new company’s Head Officers, toured the slaughter plant, the deboning, packing area and the frozen and cold storage. In January this year (2017), new shareholders decided to buy the slaughterhouse out of use, and renew it with the latest technology, at a total investment cost of 30 million dollars.Investors took the determination of investment in a favorable economic environment after the new president assumed in December 2015, and after he unified the exchange rate.
He also eliminated that month, the EOR (Export Operations Records), which since 2008 were used to control exports of agricultural products, limiting sales abroad. Also, the process of Hilton quota was redefined, which for years the country did not meet, so Natural Beef got 300 TM and the possibility of accessing more if others competitors do not meet the quota. This was established by the new Government and put in practice last June.
With its reopening, the slaughterhouse becomes the largest private employer in Azul, with 500 workers qualified and the prospect of incorporating another 400 in a second stage. Its owners are planning to spend 60 percent of the production to overseas markets and achieve a butchering of 560 head per day, with an annual projection of 140,000.Last week was reported that beef exports in June 2017 totaled $ 158 million, 52 percent more than in the same month in 2016, while the cumulative growth in the first half of the year was 18 percent.
